Here are some miscellaneous pictures of sights in Kinshasa.
Various Congolese restrooms
Leaping Lizard
This one leaped up on the wall while I was following it
Here are some more spiritual quick pics for today. Great Lord’s Day with some great missionaries in the Congo. Matteus and I left home at 8:15 and got back from church at 2:30 … long day for a little guy who got a little fussy and super sweaty (it was about 100 degrees with humidity today).
Congolese pastor giving introduction to church service
New visitors standing and introducing themselves at church (several Americans and 2 Congolese visitors). All 4 of the American families at church have adopted children.
Front row Baptists
New missionary Sparky Clancy preaching as guest speaker with Dan Grings translating
Matteus will already fit in at Gold Country Baptist, sleeping in service (no offense to Sparky or Dan who did a great job!)
Man giving testimony in communion service
Meeting a real hero of the faith, 91-year-old missionary Grandpa Bob Grings who has spent numerous decades in the country and plans to die here serving the Lord (many in the congregation know this may be his last Sunday – he is evidently looked up to by all as a father in the faith)
On Lord’s Day afternoons the Greene’s host a Bible study in their yard for street boys which includes a soccer game afterwards
Bethany Greene and Matteus
Matteus practicing “cheese”
(My favorite pic of my boy, I miss that smile)
The Greene family, our gracious hosts this weekend
Wow, thank you so much for sharing these! It is a joy to see the way God has eased your grief and filled your hearts with joy through Matteus! We can't wait until your whole family is reunited and this little one is welcomed home! Anxious to meet your new son......
ReplyDeletePraying continually for God's care and provision for you all in this adoption process.

I can't wait to meet the little guy!
ReplyDeleteLove the pic of you and Matteus sitting as 'Front row Baptists'.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing a glimpse of your lives. Praying God will continue to guide your steps and that His righteous right hand will uphold you in every way.
Glen, Sarah and I took your 4 precious children (plus Ethan) to Apple Hill, Sunday afternoon after In-N-Out. They climbed on an old tractor for pictures, ate kettle corn, tasted apple juice but their favorite memory as we drove home was rolling down the grassy hill, over and over again. Funny how the most insignificant can become the most significant.
We are praying for you Phil and precious Matteus. God is doing a mighty work,
Linda (for the Cains)
Psalm 143:8 "Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul."
Praying for God to exalt the valleys, bring low every hill and mountain, and make the rough places plain and smooth! May His peace fill you and His grace continue to keep you where He wants you to be . . . and may you continue to have His wisdom as you do all the many things required of you! We cannot WAIT to meet little Matteus - what a sunny smile he has! It's almost bigger than he is! You and your family are in our prayers daily as you travel this road,
